'Ever since the publication of "Agape and Eros" the subject of religious love has fascinated the modern mind and contributed much to a deeper understanding of the relationship between God and man.
This book deals with the doctrine of the love of God as it is found in the classical texts of a non-Christian reli-
gibus sect, the Saiva Siddhánta. It als shows how the values contained in an Eastern religion like Hinduism
have relevance to contemporary problems of religious pluralism. The author describes the type of mysticism proper to this religion, and formulates its theology of love of God. He als traces the development of this theology from the early Sanskrit and Tamil sources'.
