Provenance
T. Joe Willey (1935–2019) was een Amerikaans neuroloog, docent en auteur. Hij promoveerde in de neurowetenschappen aan de University of California, Berkeley. Willey werkte als onderzoeker aan het Brain Research Institute (UCLA), waar hij samenwerkte met Nobelprijswinnaar Sir John Eccles. Daarnaast doceerde hij aan de School of Medicine van Loma Linda University. Zijn onderzoek richtte zich op hersenfysiologie, met bijzondere aandacht voor bewustzijn, gehoor en neuronale communicatie. Hij publiceerde in wetenschappelijke tijdschriften zoals Brain Research en Journal of Neurophysiology. In latere jaren was hij actief als columnist en schrijver van populaire essays over wetenschap en religie. In Ministry Magazine schreef hij onder meer over de relatie tussen zintuigen en ontwerp in de natuur. Na zijn academische carrière werd hij actief in het bedrijfsleven, onder andere in de PEO-sector (personeelsbeheer). In 2020 verscheen postuum zijn autobiografisch werk Heaven Is a Long Way to Go, over zijn familiegeschiedenis en spirituele reis. Zijn bibliotheek bevatte diverse zeldzame boeken over psychiatrie, filosofie en religie.
