First edition in Dutch of this work of a popular German priest. Abraham à Sancta Clara is the monastic name of Johann Ulrich Megerle (1644-1709), an Austrian Augustinian monk, who was appointed court preacher by Emperor Leopold I in 1677. At the time he was famous for his sermons, many of which appeared in print.
The book is a translation of Wohl angefüllter Wein-Keller, Nürnberg 1710, a collection of works that the author finished shortly before his death and that appeared posthumously. The illustrations are smaller copies of the German edition. The book has nothing to do with wine.
