C.W. Leadbeater was a member of the Theosophical Society and a close confidant of H.P. Blavatsky, about whom Aleister Crowley wrote in his study on the three schools of magic. In this crisis, the yellow adepts sent a messenger to the Western world, H.P. Blavatsky, with a specific mission to destroy the crude schools of Christianity on one hand, and to eradicate materialism from physical science on the other. Blavatsky's disciples and successors, Charles W. Leadbeater and Annie Besant, spent considerable time at the Adyar-based Theosophical Society (Theosophical Society in Adyar), aiming to establish Madras as a center of the Western society. They condensed and demystified the teachings, still strongly influenced by the views and visions of Blavatsky."

"This is an outline of the great law of Karma and its efficacy, by which, through its understanding, humanity can accelerate its development, by its application it can liberate itself from its fetters, and long before its race has finished its course, become one of the helpers and redeemers of the world." (Concluding sentence); Annie Besant (née Wood, 1847-1933) quickly became a part of the inner leadership circle (Esoteric Section) of the Theosophical Society. Like all leading members of the TG, she also had her secret "Tibetan" master. After the death of Helena Blavatsky (1891), she settled in Benares, where she established the Central Hindu College. This period also includes her collaboration with Leadbeater. In 1907, she was elected as the President of the Theosophical Society. Their joint decision with Leadbeater that the Brahmin boy Krishnamurti was an avatar & the coming messiah, was not approved by many members (especially Rudolf Steiner), which led to a division in the movement; Rare.
