Mr. Martianoff, who was born in Siberia and was an officer in the Russian Imperial Army, escaped to the United States in the early 1920's following his arrest for involvement in a plot to assassinate Lenin.
He joined the staff of Novoye Russkoye Slovo shortly after arriving in New York and retired as its business manager 15 years ago.
In addition to his newspaper work, Mr. Martianoff conducted a publishing business that issued Russian-language books and manuals for immigrants and published a popular Russian calendar. He continued in business until his death.
Mr. Martianoff was the son of a scientist who established a museum in the Siberian city of Minusinsk.
Mr. Martianoff studied at Moscow and Prague Universities and received a master's degree in business administration from Columbia University in 1930.
