Contemporary or slightly later halfleather binding, but spine heavily worn / damaged /partly repaired, leaving the hinges rather weak. Binding in need of repair, but contents mostly very good/ near fine.

The book was printed on a 'lithographic press' at the Protestant mission at Batavia.
Copy of Dutch sinologist W. Vissering, with his stamp on title page and acquisition date (four pounds from B. Quaritch, 1876, London) on first blank.
