Drawing on new research, this volume of the Netherlandish Yearbook for History of Art aims to correct this state of affairs. The 10 essays collected in the volume offer fresh insights into well-known art historical genres including the nude and anatomical studies. Buty they also explore issues of embodiment and the role of the human senses, joining concepts from anthropology, social history, and cultural studies with more traditional art historical methodology.
