In the series of magazines that encouraged or directed Lezama - "Verbum" (1937), "Silver Spur" (1939-1941), "Nobody seemed" (1942 -1944) - "Origins" was the longest and important. Published only unpublished material, both collaborations as translations. In its pages appeared stories, poems, theater critic and literary works on art, aesthetics, and music. It unveiled the latest European literary trends. Alejo Carpentier also collaborated, Roberto Fernández Retamar, Fayad Jamis, Samuel Feijoo, Eugenio Florit, Enrique Labrador Ruiz, Lydia Cabrera, Virgilio Piñera, Cleva Solis, and many others. Among the foreign collaborators found Juan Ramon Jimenez, Aimé Césaire, Paul Valery, Barn Lane, Albert Camus, Luis Cernuda, Paul Claudel, Macedonio Fernandez, Paul Eluard, Gabriela Mistral, Octavio Paz, Alfonso Reyes, Theodore Spencer, among others. His numbers were illustrated by outstanding Cuban painters as Amelia Pelaez, Wifredo Lam, René Portocarrero and Carmelo Gonzalez. While the magazine appeared Ediciones Origenes (Origins Editions), which published much of the literary work of which were grouped around this publication, which even gave them names and then referring to them as "Grupo Origenes" ("Origins Group")
