A large format (360 x 250 mm) to provide the perfect medium for Michael Cooper's work. 368 pp.
One of the 5,000 numbered and signed copies worldwide. Each copy was individually numbered and was be personally signed by at least ten of the contributors (genuine individual signatures, NOT reproductions). This one and the other copies we are offering come directly from the Spanish book distributor.
Over 600 photographs (most of them previously unpublished). These are master printed in fine screen lithopraph and image-varnished.
Each book is hand-bound and buckram by craftsmen.
Extras: Forewords by Mick Jagger and Keith Richards; Introduction by Terry Southern; Consultancy by Bill Wyman.
The fascinating text which runs throughout the book was written by 93 key contributors including Andy Warhol, Francis Bacon, Eric Clapton, Marianne Faithfull, Bill Wyman, Charlie Watts, Eric Clapton, George Harrison, Keith Richards, Klaus Voormann, Paul McCartney, Ringo Starr, William Burroughs... Their recollection provided revealing, first-hand accounts of the events of the Sixties.
Michael Cooper's superb photographs provide a unique insider's view of the Sixties. It was a prolific and exhilarating period of artistic cross-fertilization. For the first time in Britain the class barriers were really down; in London, everyone seemed to know everyone.
Through his association with Robert Fraser and the Stones and The Beatles Michael met the artists, writers, poets and musicians of the time and the courtiers around them. He introduced these people to each other. Many of those who brilliantly lit up the decade on both sides of the Atlantic were photographed by him. His most well known photographic assignment was the album cover for The Beatles' Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band.
